This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned claims professional who thrives in complex coverage and liability analysis, enjoys collaborating with legal and industry experts, and is looking to make a meaningful impact at a Fortune 100 carrier known for its financial strength, innovation, and commitment to customer advocacy. Responsibilities
- Own the claim end to end: determine coverage, investigate, assess liability, set and adjust reserves, evaluate exposure, negotiate settlements, and authorize payment; authority to deny claims when facts and policy language support it.
- Drive litigation strategy: review pleadings, claim files, and investigation materials, then set the plan to resolve each suit, including coverage positions, amounts owed, discovery plans, and negotiation approach.
- Build the right team for each matter: based on the allegations, assemble the working group of Home Office Legal, defense counsel, and Home Office Claims, and bring in technical resources such as environmental consultants where needed.
- Manage outside counsel: oversee defense counsel’s strategy, practices, and billing so spend stays aligned with outcomes.
- Protect the claim and the data: maintain the integrity of financial processing and the security of confidential information in claim files.
- Mentor and partner: coach colleagues and serve as the claims liaison to Underwriting, Reinsurance, and other business partners.
- Stay ahead of the law: track legislation, court decisions, and trends affecting pollution and other specialty coverages, and advise Claims Management on any impact to claims policies and procedures.
- Contribute beyond your desk: participate in special projects that shape how the team works.
