Senior Tax Manager
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing proactive tax planning and strategic guidance.
Maintain strong relationships with key client contacts and support complex client engagements.
Identify opportunities to deliver additional value through tax planning and cross-functional firm services.
Collaborate with firm leaders to ensure exceptional client service and engagement success.
Technical Tax Leadership
Review complex tax returns and tax research projects across multiple entity types.
Provide technical guidance to Tax Managers, Senior Associates, and Staff.
Develop and oversee implementation of tax planning strategies.
Stay current on tax law developments and communicate impacts to clients and internal teams.
Team Leadership & Development
Mentor, coach, and develop tax professionals at various levels.
Support training and professional development initiatives across the Tax practice.
Foster a collaborative environment focused on growth, accountability, and continuous learning.
Practice & Operational Excellence
Assist with engagement planning, staffing, workflow management, and resource allocation.
Support process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and service quality.
Contribute to the development of best practices and standardized procedures across the Tax team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Active CPA or EA license
- 7+ years of public accounting tax experience.
- Strong technical expertise in:
- Partnership taxation
- S Corporation taxation
- C Corporation taxation
- Individual taxation
- Multi-state taxation
- Experience reviewing complex tax returns and technical tax research projects.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing professional staff.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Strong client service mindset with a consultative approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's in Taxation (MST), LL.M. in Taxation, or other advanced tax credential.
- Experience serving clients in Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC), professional services, manufacturing, or closely held businesses.
- Exposure to specialty tax areas such as:
- State and Local Tax (SALT)
- M&A Transactions
- Accounting Methods
- Credits & Incentives
- Experience with tax technology platforms such as CCH Axcess, GoSystem, ProSystem fx, Checkpoint, or BNA.
- Experience leading process improvement or practice scalability initiatives.
Pay
The salary range for this position is an estimate of $141,000 - $170,000. A final compensation offer within this range will be based on factors including an individual’s skill sets, experience, knowledge, licensure and certifications, and geography.
