Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join the tax team in our Sioux Falls office. This role is ideal for a tax professional with strong public accounting experience who is looking to take on more complex tax work, build client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of the market. The Senior Tax Associate will work closely with the Tax Team Leader and other members of the tax department, providing tax compliance, planning, and advisory services to clients. The successful candidate will have strong technical and soft skills, excellent client service abilities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns and workpapers.
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to ensure accuracy, compliance, and advisory-focused outcomes.
- Perform tax research, planning, and analysis to identify opportunities, efficiencies, and potential risks.
- Analyze client information and develop solutions that support tax planning strategies and maximize tax benefits.
- Prepare and review supporting documentation and reports in alignment with professional and regulatory standards.
- Communicate directly with clients and tax authorities to address tax-related questions and provide guidance.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Assist with client engagements and contribute to business development and client relationship growth.
- Review the work of junior associates and interns and provide technical guidance and feedback.
- Collaborate with managers, partners, and team members across client engagements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Stay current with evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry trends.
- Continue developing technical expertise through ongoing learning and training.
- Support the continued growth and development of the Sioux Falls market.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 3+ years of public accounting or related tax experience, with a focus on tax services.
- Strong public accounting experience with progressively responsible tax experience.
- Strong technical tax knowledge and analytical skills.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification or progress toward obtaining a CPA is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns and workpapers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong client service and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

- Experience serving agricultural, agribusiness, business, and individual clients.
- Experience with tax planning and advisory services.
- Experience reviewing and mentoring junior tax professionals.
- CPA preferred.

- Experience working directly with clients and tax authorities.

- Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Familiarity with accounting software is required.
- Experience with UltraTax is preferred.
Work Environment
- Onsite - Sioux Falls, SD
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Summer Fridays off after Memorial Day
- Occasional travel to clients may be required, particularly when building and maintaining client relationships.
