About the role
The Tax Senior role is designed for a high-performer who excels at the intersection of complex tax compliance and strategic planning. This role serves as a vital link between the team and management, ensuring clients receive high-level accuracy while maximizing their tax efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Tax Preparation & Review: Lead the preparation and initial review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for various entities, ensuring 100% compliance with current regulations.
- Strategic Support: Assist leadership in implementing tax strategies that optimize clients' tax positions and identify potential savings.
- Technical Research: Perform deep-dive tax research to stay ahead of legislative changes and provide actionable insights on new regulations.
- Audit Defense: Help coordinate documentation and provide clear explanations to external auditors and tax authorities during inquiries.
- Data Analysis: Analyze financial data to pinpoint tax-saving opportunities and report findings to key stakeholders.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior tax staff, fostering a collaborative and high-standard work environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in tax accounting and compliance, ideally within a public accounting firm (typically 3-5 years).
- Credentials: CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is highly preferred (or active progress toward licensure).
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in professional tax software and the Microsoft Office Suite (especially advanced Excel).
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to team members and clients.
