Senior Systems Programmer – Storage

The Senior Systems Programmer - Storage will play a critical role in supporting enterprise-scale mainframe disaster recovery operations and ensuring the resilience of mission-critical systems. This position focuses on maintaining, recovering, and optimizing storage environments across complex z/OS platforms. Key responsibilities include:

1. Support disaster recovery activities within enterprise mainframe environments by ensuring storage systems are properly configured, maintained, and recoverable.
2. Manage and troubleshoot storage environments, including DASD and tape subsystems.
3. Perform data recovery activities for tape and DASD platforms.
4. Maintain and update disaster recovery plans, technical recovery procedures, and related documentation.
5. Support disaster recovery drills by validating processes, resolving issues, and ensuring successful execution.
6. Collaborate with technical teams, disaster recovery coordinators, clients, and vendors to coordinate recovery activities.
7. Provide regular status updates and communicate technical findings clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
8. Apply advanced problem-solving skills to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex storage-related issues.
9. Ensure storage configurations and recovery processes align with operational requirements and business continuity objectives.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of z/OS environments, disaster recovery processes, and enterprise storage technologies.
• Hands-on experience with DASD and tape technologies, including IBM DS8k, TS7k, EMC, and Luminex systems.
• Experience with tape management systems such as Broadcom, TMC, IBM RRM, and OAM.
• Strong understanding of z/OS JCL and SMS routines, including DFSMS and DFHSM.
• Experience using SAS/Vantage reporting for storage trends and analysis.
• Familiarity with tape dump restores and recovery procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Excellent problem determination skills and the ability to work independently in high-pressure environments.
