Senior Systems Programmer

About the role

The Senior Systems Programmer at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is responsible for various tasks including:

• Installing and maintaining systems software programs
• Aiding in the identification, evaluation, tailoring, and implementation of vendor-supplied systems software packages
• Providing technical assistance and information to other systems programmers
• Identifying and researching hardware system components
• Reviewing performance and utilization data and preparing capacity planning reports
• Designing and executing the BCBSMS Business Recovery Plan and conducting annual tests

Requirements

• An Associate or Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field OR at least 10 years of IBM mainframe O/S System Programming experience
• Systems Programming experience with DB2 in a Mainframe environment preferred
• Experience in Storage Administration
• Experience in IOCP/HCD Administration
• Experience in Security Administration preferred (CA-Top Secret)
• Knowledge of and experience with IBM operating system problem determination and resolution support utility programs
• Experience in system and application problem determination and resolution
• Experience using SMP/E to install operating systems and program products and required maintenance
• Proficiency in MS Office products
