HybridEngineeringFull-time
About the role
You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with brilliant minds across disciplines, turning complex challenges into elegant, scalable solutions that meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Take over responsibility for the system-level definition of the OBD architecture for BEV and EREV vehicle platforms within a new software-defined vehicle environment
- Define and maintain the overall OBD system concept, including monitor philosophy, readiness logic, fault reaction behavior, diagnostic architecture, and regulatory alignment
- Translate regulatory, vehicle-level, and architectural needs into structured and traceable OBD system requirements
- Define the interaction of OBD functions with powertrain controls, thermal systems, energy management, vehicle operating modes, and cross-domain software services
- Establish consistent diagnostic behavior across domains, ensuring alignment between system architecture, software implementation, validation strategy, and service requirements
- Work closely with OBD requirements engineers, software teams, controls engineers, validation engineers, and system architects to align interfaces and ensure complete implementation
- Support the definition of monitor execution conditions, diagnostic event handling, DTC strategies, and vehicle-state dependencies
- Ensure consistent and scalable integration of OBD functions into the SDV architecture, including support for central computer concepts, domain controllers, and communication gateways
- Drive requirements decomposition and allocation into software, controls, and validation deliverables while ensuring completeness, consistency, and testability
- Analyze system-level issues found during integration and testing, identify requirements or architectural gaps, and drive cross-functional resolution
- Coordinate and contribute into the prototype and serial development stage in terms of software availability, requirements maturity, data analysis, and technical reporting
- Partner with concept and architecture teams to come up with solutions to engineering and functional challenges related to diagnostic systems in an SDV environment
- Be involved in other related tasks / activities as required
Requirements
- Relevant degree such as a bachelors or master's degree in Engineering, Technology, IT Systems, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Controls, or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university, preferably in electrical engineering, automotive engineering, or systems engineering
- 8+ years of experience in automotive systems engineering, diagnostics, powertrain controls, or electrified propulsion development, with strong exposure to Onboard Diagnostics (OBD)
- Proven experience defining and managing system-level OBD concepts, including monitor strategies, fault detection, readiness behavior, diagnostic architecture, and compliance-relevant logic
- Strong understanding of OBDII regulations, diagnostic system behavior, monitor enable conditions, DTC concepts, MIL behavior, and readiness requirements
- Experience working in a software-defined vehicle (SDV) architecture, including cross-domain interaction between centralized and distributed software functions
- Ability to define clear, structured, and testable system requirements and decompose them into domain-specific functional expectations
- Familiarity with UDS diagnostics, diagnostic event handling, DTC structures, CAN/Ethernet communication, and ECU interaction concepts
- Hands-on experience with requirements and traceability tools such as Jama, DOORS, or Polarion
- Strong systems thinking mindset with the ability to manage complexity across multiple functions, interfaces, and vehicle states
- Strong interpersonal skills including ownership, self-motivation, analytical problem solving, structured communication, and proven ability to work in a truly cross-functional and global environment
Qualifications
- Motivated engineer wanting to work at the cutting edge of electric vehicle technical design and define robust diagnostic systems for next-generation BEV and EREV platforms.
