SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER (Lvl 6)

About the Role

Quantum is staffing a Sr. Systems Engineer Level 6 to support a Government program delivering technical solutions and products using emerging technologies for processing large-scale data. Program areas include commercial cloud technologies, high-performance computing, and enterprise architecture. This high-profile, growing program is critical to U.S. national security. The position is onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD (no telework or hybrid options).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
• Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure compatibility with defined system architecture(s) (DoDAF, Service-oriented Architecture).
• Allocate requirements to hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
• Coordinate resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews requiring cross-discipline coordination.
• Analyze technical alternatives for projects and provide preliminary recommendations.
• Apply systems engineering principles across the systems life cycle phases: Concept, Development, Production, Utilization, Support, and Retirement.
• Interact with Government stakeholders on technical considerations, problems, issues, or conflicts.
• Communicate with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.
• Ensure technical integrity, quality, and completeness of work and deliverables across ISO/IEC 15288 process areas, including:
  • Technical Process Area: Stakeholder Requirements Definition, Requirements Analysis, Architectural Design, Implementation, Integration, Verification, Transition, Validation, Operation, Maintenance, and Disposal.
  • Project Process Area: Project Planning, Project Assessment and Control, Decision Management, Risk Management, Configuration Management, Information Management, and Measurement.
  • Enterprise Process Area: Project Portfolio Management, Infrastructure Management, Lifecycle Model Management, Human Resource Management, and Quality Management.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with full-scope polygraph.
• One of the following combinations of education and experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED plus 24 years of general systems engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or related discipline plus 20 years of systems engineering experience.
  • Master’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or related discipline plus 18 years of systems engineering experience.
  • PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field or related discipline plus 18 years of systems engineering experience.
