Scientific Systems Products Division is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in Autonomous Vehicles and Uncrewed Systems. Scientific Systems Company, Inc. (SSCI) is a leading developer of advanced technologies for navigation, mission planning, and autonomy in the Aerospace and Defense industries. Founded in 1990 and based in Burlington, MA, SSCI invents disruptive technologies and builds trusted products for challenging missions, focusing on AI/ML-enabled capabilities for intelligent agents, smart sensors, and autonomous platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Support system design reviews (SRR/PDR/CDR/TRR) for Autonomy Systems and develop interfaces (IDDs, ICDs) and operational/system/data viewpoints aligned with customer standards such as DoDAF.
  • Perform system-level integration and test activities to ensure Autonomy Systems meet or exceed functional and performance requirements.
  • Define and document system requirements, interfaces, and performance metrics.
  • Lead autonomy architecture development efforts and act as a primary customer-facing liaison for architectural developments.
  • Perform system-level modeling and simulation (M&S) using digital models and tools like AFSIM to quantify autonomy system utility or effectiveness.
  • Support proposal activities through M&S, technical data analysis, and content creation/revision.
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies using tools like Cameo/MagicDraw to create and maintain system models with clarity and traceability.
  • Perform system analysis, including requirements analyses and design activities, to support Autonomy System Architectures, models, data, and interfaces.
  • Develop working knowledge of Aerospace and DoD Systems Engineering Management and relevant customer/industry processes (e.g., DoD 5000).

This position requires prolonged desk work (sitting or standing) and may involve pushing/pulling/lifting up to 15 pounds. Travel is approximately 15%. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active US DOD Security Clearance.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of progressive systems engineering experience in a related industry.
  • Experience with development, integration, and test of autonomous systems.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and SysML tools.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation (M&S) and tools like AFSIM.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s of Science degree or PhD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, CAD, AutoCAD, AFSIM, and tools like Cameo/MagicDraw.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems creatively.
  • Strong logical reasoning and decision-making skills.
