Senior Systems Engineer
About the role
The CAF DMO 3.0 program, via its Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON), provides world-class integration training in large force and small team formats to combat units around the globe against cutting-edge threats in a boundless virtual battlespace. The U.S. Air Force can only utilize its full capability against modern threats in a virtual environment. Be a part of that environment and continue to make the USAF the best air force in the world.
Responsibilities
- Support military simulation system and application integration, evaluation, and interoperability test to support DMON and JSE training operations.
- Use industry-standard tools for simulation test and evaluation to include Wireshark, simulation protocol analysis, and GFE and Commercial Computer Generated Forces (CGFs).
- Aid in detailed analysis of network and computational system performance including latency, bandwidth, jitter, and system occupancy measures.
- Develop and maintain test plans and procedures to document and drive test activities.
- Draft comprehensive test reports based on completed integration, test, evaluation, and verification tasks performed.
- Contribute to other areas of the engineering life cycle to include requirements review and assessment, training operations support, and basic system administration functions.
- Support program and team processes by using tools from the Atlassian Suite of products to include JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and X-Ray.
- Participate in peer reviews, test bed maintenance and updates, and programming, testing, and debugging activities.
- Write and maintain scripts and support application (PowerShell, Cygwin, VBasic, etc.) programs, to enable efficiencies in test artifact creation and task execution.
- Help identify production and non-production application issues, assist in developing solutions, and implement necessary changes.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in an applicable STEM curriculum (e.g., Data Analysis, System Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Physics, etc.) or similar.
- 8 years of engineering experience performing test, integration, SW development, or embedded systems engineering activities.
