Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Hicksville, NY Work Arrangement: Hicksville office / client onsite as required Position Type: Full-Time Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our Managed Services team. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for supporting client environments, implementing infrastructure projects, troubleshooting complex issues, and designing and deploying on-premises and cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Citrix, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, VMware/Hyper-V, Azure, and AWS, along with the ability to build and troubleshoot server and infrastructure environments from the ground up. This position will be based out of our Hicksville, NY office, with travel to client locations as required to support projects, implementations, escalations, and other onsite needs. Key Responsibilities Provide senior-level technical support for client infrastructure environmentsDesign, build, configure, migrate, and troubleshoot Windows Server environmentsDeploy and maintain physical and virtual servers, including server builds, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioningSupport and administer Citrix environments, including Virtual Apps and Desktops, StoreFront, Delivery Controllers, and related infrastructureManage virtualization technologies including VMware vSphere/ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-VImplement and support cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure and AWSSupport hybrid environments spanning on-premises infrastructure and public cloud platformsAdminister Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365Troubleshoot complex server, application, authentication, network, storage, and performance issuesPerform infrastructure migrations, upgrades, and modernization projectsSupport backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and infrastructure resiliency solutionsProvide escalation support for Help Desk and other engineering teamsParticipate in client-facing technical meetings and provide recommendations regarding infrastructure improvementsCreate and maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, procedures, and configuration informationWork independently on assigned client projects while coordinating with project managers and other technical resourcesTravel to client locations throughout the region for onsite support and project work as requiredParticipate in scheduled after-hours project work and escalation support when required Required Qualifications 7+ years of hands-on systems administration or infrastructure engineering experienceAdvanced experience with Windows Server administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and server buildsStrong experience administering Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCPStrong hands-on experience supporting Citrix environmentsExperience with VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Hyper-VExperience supporting and deploying workloads within Microsoft AzureExperience with AWS infrastructure and servicesStrong understanding of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra IDExperience with server and infrastructure migrationsSolid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, firewalls, storage, and general networking conceptsExperience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues across multiple technologiesStrong documentation and organizational skillsExcellent communication and client-facing skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and projects in a managed services environmentAbility to work from the Hicksville office and travel to client locations as required Preferred Qualifications Experience working for an MSP or IT consulting organizationExperience supporting multi-client environmentsCitrix certifications or significant equivalent hands-on experienceMicrosoft Azure certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-305AWS certificationsMicrosoft 365 and hybrid identity experiencePowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation experienceExperience with enterprise backup, storage, monitoring, and disaster recovery platformsExperience with RMM, PSA, and remote management platforms What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is more than an administrator. The right candidate is a senior-level engineer who can take ownership of an issue or project, work directly with clients, troubleshoot complex environments, and drive technical work through completion. This individual should be equally comfortable building a new server environment, troubleshooting a Citrix issue, performing an Azure migration, supporting an onsite client project, or serving as the senior escalation point for a difficult infrastructure problem.
