Senior Systems Engineer

About the role

GEM Technologies is a Managed Services Provider delivering personalized technology solutions to local businesses in the New York City area. As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will maintain and optimize IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, and computer systems while identifying and resolving issues that could disrupt operations. You will work with multiple clients to provide expert technical support, ensuring their systems remain secure and performant. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining Windows-based systems and infrastructure, collaborating closely with the IT team to uphold stability, security, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain server and cloud-based computing solutions
• Provide expert technical support to clients, resolving system-related issues
• Analyze and optimize system performance, identifying areas for improvement
• Create and maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in systems engineering
• Apply cybersecurity best practices, including firewall management and system hardening
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution to restore IT infrastructure functionality

Requirements: Education and Experience

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• At least five years of proven experience as a Senior Systems Engineer, with a track record of delivering complex IT projects

• Systems administration: Proficiency in managing and maintaining computer systems
• Network protocols: Understanding of network communication protocols
• Hardware configuration: Knowledge of configuring hardware components
• Software deployment: Ability to deploy and manage software solutions

In compliance with state and city salary transparency requirements, the potential salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience.
