About the role
The Linux Engineer / DevOps Engineer will support and modernize MGIC's enterprise infrastructure platforms, working alongside Infrastructure, Engineering, Security, and Application teams.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Design, deploy, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and CloudFormation).
- Automate server provisioning and configuration management using Ansible.
- Build and support CI/CD pipelines for application deployment.
- Maintain system health, performance, and availability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Linux, cloud, networking, and application issues.
- Partner with development teams to streamline deployments and improve reliability.
- Implement security hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational runbooks.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Linux administration experience.
- Experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
- Experience using: Ansible, Terraform, Git Bash or Python scripting, CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and firewalls.
- Experience troubleshooting production systems and critical incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- RHCSA or RHCE certification.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or DevOps Engineer certification.
- Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, or EKS.
- Experience with JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, or NGINX.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk or CloudWatch.
- Ldap and Active Directory experience is highly desirable, including authentication, SSO, Kerberos, LDAPS, and directory service integrations.
