Senior Systems Administrator

This is a Fully Remote Job About Our Client:Technology Resources provides information technology services to support campus units, focusing on delivering secure, reliable, and responsive IT systems and solutions that enhance operational effectiveness. About the Opportunity:The SENIOR SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR role is responsible for administering and maintaining systems, servers, networks, and virtual machines to support client needs. This position plays a key role in ensuring system reliability, security, and performance, contributing technical leadership and expertise to the team. Responsibilities:Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot complex IT infrastructure components.Diagnose and resolve advanced hardware, software, and network issues, serving as an escalation point.Coordinate with vendors and technical teams to resolve problems.Monitor system performance and implement enhancements to improve reliability.Develop and maintain system documentation, standards, and best practices.Mentor and cross-train team members.Lead network security measures, including audits and compliance.Manage backup systems and ensure data recoverability.Research and implement new technologies and best practices.Participate in planning and strategic activities for system operations.Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support. Requirements:Experience in systems administration.Advanced knowledge of systems administration concepts and procedures.Experience managing VMware, Windows and Linux servers, backups, storage, network hardware, and firewalls.Ability to write scripts and SQL queries.Strong problem-solving skills using application, system, and hardware logs.Compliance with fingerprinting requirements.Security+ certification. Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree.Over three years of relevant experience.Experience supporting business applications in a university setting.Proficiency with scripting and Splunk queries.Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
