About the role
NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Systems Software Engineer for the Apache Spark Acceleration group. The role involves enabling C++ native execution of Spark operations on GPUs, developing CUDA/C++ libraries for accelerating DataFrames and I/O operations on common file formats, collaborating with distributed systems teams, contributing to open source communities, and providing recommendations to teams on infrastructure and testing strategies.
Responsibilities
- Enable C++ native execution of Spark operations on GPUs
- Develop CUDA/C++ libraries to accelerate DataFrames and I/O operations on common file formats such as Parquet, ORC, and JSON
- Collaborate with distributed systems teams to solve large-scale distributed processing challenges
- Contribute to open source projects like RAPIDS, CCCL, and UCX through technical discussions and code contributions
- Provide recommendations and feedback to teams on infrastructure, CI/CD, and testing strategies
- Build, test, and optimize across different platforms
Requirements
- 9+ years of experience in software development
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with data platform development
- Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in C++, Java, and Scala
- Experience supporting enterprise customers
- Familiarity with the open source data platform ecosystem (Apache Spark, Velox, Presto, Apache Arrow, Apache DataFusion, etc.)
Qualifications
- Experience using AI tools in software development
Skills
- Experience with distributed systems
- Knowledge of open source data processing engines
- Ability to contribute to open source projects
- Strong problem-solving skills
Benefits
- Base salary range: $184,000 - $287,500 for Level 4, and $224,000 - $356,500 for Level 5
- Eligibility for equity and benefits

- Base salary determined based on location, experience, and comparable positions
