Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking an ambitious, experienced Senior System Engineer to join our established team. This role supports the integration of requirements, design, and technology for multiple geospatially focused web services and systems, and offers a flexible work environment with part-time telework opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for multiple geospatial systems within the scope of the TTO.
  • Conduct process evaluations of corporate enterprise applications to identify areas for improvement and optimization while ensuring adherence to enterprise process standards for development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, Government Product Leads, and Government Leadership Teams to define, prioritize, and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes and methodologies, facilitating the adoption of Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including process standards, program-level templates, and best practice guides.
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization within the application development lifecycle.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and issues in systems and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to promote knowledge sharing and enhance the technical skills of team members.
  • Engage with Government Leadership, Product Leads, and development teams to identify technical issues and provide guidance to resolve them effectively.
  • Participate in incident response and problem-solving activities to address critical system issues and minimize downtime.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior system engineers and other team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to enterprise application development and support.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Five years of additional systems engineering experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Twenty years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues related to enterprise applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise process standards and adherence to these standards throughout the application development lifecycle.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and management.
  • Ability to work core hours of 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Knowledge of web application interface applications (APIs).
  • Certifications in relevant areas, such as Agile (e.g., Certified Scrum Master) or DevOps (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and related tools, such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Argo.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation tools to streamline system engineering tasks.

Pay

The estimated salary range for this position is $220,000–$260,000 (annualized USD). Actual salaries are influenced by factors such as location, individual education, skills, experience, competencies, contract affordability, and organizational needs.
