About the role

Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous RedHat Enterprise/Microsoft Windows environment. Participate in all phases of Engineering software installation and support, with emphasis on testing, documentation, and acceptance phases. Collaborate with System Admins, Cyber Security professionals, Network Engineering, and Program Stakeholders.

  • Apply understanding and knowledge of Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
  • Work as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment.
  • Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity, including the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
  • Responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to a Linux/Windows infrastructure for classified programs.
  • Duties include server management (software and hardware); storage management (logical and physical); cross-platform authentication and access management; data backup and restoration; software and license configuration; and workstation support.
  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation on advanced IT processes and procedures.
  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.

Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours. This is a full-time, 100% onsite position.

Requirements

  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Experience with some of the following technologies: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, BackupExec, NetBackup, prior systems administration experience, Windows or Linux administration, Backup and Recovery enterprise suites.
  • Experience with Server architectures and/or troubleshooting methods and ability to assist in developing solutions and documentation to a variety of technical problems.
  • Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, Linux Desktops, Windows desktops (Windows 10, 11), Splunk, and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
  • Scripting/automation PowerShell, Bash experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret security clearance.
  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) and an Operating System Certification.
  • Direct working experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, and/or DoD/RMF.
  • Experience in RedHat Enterprise Linux.
  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions.
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, SCCM, and/or Exchange.
  • Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.

Pay

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
