About the role

The Senior Sustainment Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Space Force's Space Systems Center (SSC) in acquiring and maintaining state-of-the-art satellite communications systems. This position requires a strong background in systems engineering, integration, and test (SE&I), with expertise in requirements development and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Engage both government and corporate stakeholders to produce outstanding results.
  • Provide senior-level critical thinking and problem-solving skills to the government customer, driving technical challenges to their most logical resolution.
  • Cook up and coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoW agencies to commercial industry to achieve tangible, mission-focused outcomes.
  • Learn and apply established government SEIT processes and procedures in support of MILSATCOM and NC3 O&S activities.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain systems engineering documentation and capability requirements to ensure alignment with mission objectives and continuous readiness.
  • Apply Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) frameworks and DoW acquisition best practices to daily program office operations, directly advancing strategic and tactical MILSATCOM space systems.

Requirements

  • Active DoD SECRET clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or equivalent technical discipline from an accredited university.
  • At least 6 years of overall experience, with 5 years in SE&I associated with system acquisitions and/or O&S.
  • Expertise with requirements development and analysis and the development of systems engineering-related documents.
  • Knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (i.e., Jira/Confluence).
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and team-player skills.
  • Clear and concise written, verbal communications and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Qualifications

  • Desired: 6+ years of experience in a DoW program office with an understanding of DoW acquisition processes.
  • Desired: 6+ years of experience working with strategic & tactical MILSATCOM space systems.
  • Desired: Knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (e.g., Jira/Confluence).
  • Desired: Direct experience with Change Management and Configuration Management (CM) processes.
  • Desired: Possession of Project Management Institute (PMI) Program Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Pay

The target salary range for this position is $80,001 - $120,000, based on experience and other factors.
