About the role
This position entails visits to vendor shops to perform quality surveillance activities. The Area Supplier Quality Representative verifies that equipment or materials meet recognized codes, standards, and Bechtel procurement document requirements, rejects non-conforming material, and collaborates with suppliers and project personnel to resolve non-conformances.
Responsibilities
- Act as Bechtel’s primary contact for suppliers and perform quality surveillance to verify supplier-furnished material and equipment conform to procurement document requirements.
- Review procurement document requirements with supplier representatives to ensure understanding and implementation.
- Monitor supplier personnel activities, including witnessing operations, inspections, examinations, or tests to verify compliance with purchase order requirements.
- Review supplier-generated quality verification documentation to confirm conformance to procurement requirements.
- Reject non-conforming material and collaborate with suppliers and project personnel to determine a course of action for satisfactory disposition.
- Release conforming material for shipment and notify Bechtel functional organizations to coordinate activities.
- Report results of quality surveillance activities to Bechtel project personnel and customers.
- Perform cold-eye reviews of fellow Supplier Quality Representatives (SQRs) and supplier documentation to ensure compliance and quality standards.
- Conduct supplier audits and provide objective assessments of supplier performance and processes.
- Serve as a deputy to the Area Supervisor, providing leadership and operational support, including participation in Supplier Performance Tiger teams.
Requirements
- Two years of related experience involving 2,000 hours of in-shop surveillance, examination, or testing activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 1,000 hours of in-shop surveillance, examination, or testing activities.
- Associate Degree or equivalent of two years of full-time college coursework in a related discipline, plus 500 hours of in-shop related experience in inspection, examination, or testing activities.
Skills
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Proven management experience and adaptability to support operational needs across multiple locations.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid basic computer skills for documentation, reporting, and data analysis.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of professionalism and ability to maintain quality oversight across the supplier base.
