Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, Med Tech

Hybrid role based in Elk Grove Village, IL with less than 20% travel. Most travel is local to suppliers in the Chicago area; domestic travel as needed. International travel may occur once every couple of years.

About the role

Responsible for ensuring the performance, quality, and operational readiness of contract manufacturers. This role combines supplier oversight, sustaining engineering, project management, quality improvement, and new product introduction (NPI) leadership. The individual acts as a key interface between internal cross-functional teams and external suppliers to ensure compliant, scalable, and efficient manufacturing execution.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary operational contact for contract manufacturers.
• Partner with contract manufacturers to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Coordinate directly with Quality and Engineering teams.
• Manage supplier performance across quality, delivery, and cost metrics, and drive corrective actions.
• Provide sustaining engineering support, including root cause analysis, CAPA execution, and MRB activities.
• Lead supplier-related projects such as process transfers, IQ/OQ/PQ validations, and capacity expansions.
• Support new product introduction through supplier selection, RFQ development, and manufacturing readiness planning.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives and participate in supplier compliance and performance audits.
• Monitor manufacturing KPIs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, capacity, and product quality.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement and business objectives.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience in supplier quality or management engineering, preferably in the medical device industry.

Pay

$55.00 - $70.00 per hour.
