Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

About the role
This role is critical in ensuring that suppliers meet Whirlpool’s standards for quality, delivery, cost, and innovation. You will play a key role in supporting new product introductions and strategic sourcing projects as part of the Supplier Quality team, which leads, manages, and monitors the performance, quality, and continuous improvement of our global supplier base.
Responsibilities
- Lead supplier assessments and audits to evaluate their manufacturing processes, quality systems, and capabilities.
- Work closely with suppliers to address quality issues, process non-conformances, and deviation requests.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions and implement robust development plans to enhance supplier performance.
- Manage all aspects of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Develop receiving inspection plans.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a supplier or quality engineering role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Quality, or Industrial Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems.
Skills
- Strong proficiency with problem-solving methods such as 8D, Fishbone Diagram, 5 Whys, etc.
- Proven competency in core quality tools such as Control Plans, FMEA, Capability Studies, Gage R&R, Gage Correlation, etc.
- Working knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
- Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred).
