Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Drive the supplier qualification process for all existing and prospective Victaulic suppliers in accordance with corporate procedures.
  • Support all elements of the supplier quality management system including, first piece approvals, periodic production part inspections, product/process validations and improvement, PFMEA/control plan development and adherence, non-conforming material containment, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action.
  • Aid suppliers in understanding and implementing Victaulic product specifications.
  • Assist in supplier corrective action as it pertains to internal or external failures.
  • Lead team meetings to ensure actions and status are communicated effectively for issues affecting product availability.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for supplier improvement based on risk and benefit.
  • Implement Victaulic prefabrication production methodologies and technologies for new suppliers.
  • Ensure conformance with methodologies for existing suppliers.
  • Collaborate with pre-fabrication facilities to understand supplier quality issues, ensure effective communication, and drive timely resolution of supplier corrective actions.
  • Initiate periodic communication with internal customers to ensure quality objectives are clearly identified and acted upon.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supplier quality engineering role with demonstrated success in supplier qualification, management, correction, and development.
  • Experience with managing supplier quality in the production of fabricated and general assembly.
  • NDT Level 2 certification is a plus.
  • A strong knowledge of facility audits in accordance with standard QMS guidelines.
  • A strong knowledge of fundamental quality engineering principles and techniques; including statistical analysis and related software.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer or equivalent international certification highly desirable.
  • Proficient in problem solving.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic systems and software (MS Office, Minitab, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to travel 50% of the time with short notice.
  • Proficient knowledge of measuring equipment and technology.
  • Able to make independent decisions without supervisory assistance.
