Senior Supplier Quality Engineer
Saab, Inc. is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to join our Quality team in Syracuse, NY. This on-site role requires up to 50% travel.
Responsibilities
- Assess potential suppliers' capabilities through technical reviews, quality system audits, and site visits to ensure they meet quality requirements.
- Track supplier quality metrics such as defect rates, delivery performance, and compliance to identify improvement opportunities and hold suppliers accountable to quality standards.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans with suppliers to address quality issues, including root cause analysis and preventative measures.
- Provide technical guidance and training to suppliers to improve manufacturing processes and quality systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure new supplier products meet design specifications and quality requirements throughout the development process; perform reviews and approve supplier AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Review and approve incoming inspection procedures and ensure proper quality checks are performed on received materials.
- Perform source inspections at supplier facilities.
- Investigate and resolve non-conforming product issues, including initiating corrective actions and managing supplier corrective action plans.
- Utilize statistical tools to analyze quality data, identify trends, and generate reports on supplier performance.
- Ensure suppliers adhere to relevant quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance and coaching to junior quality engineers on supplier quality management practices.
- Travel up to 50% annually, as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field with six plus years of experience, or a Master's degree with four plus years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with supplier quality management systems and auditing practices.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools.
- Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage suppliers at all levels.
- Ability to travel to supplier locations for on-site assessments, audits, and inspections.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Experience driving quality improvements.
- Must be a U.S. citizen; selected applicants may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as Saab is a federal government contractor adhering to drug-free workplace policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Department of War (DoW) programs, procedures, and processes.
- ASQ AS9100/ISO 9001 Certified Lead Auditor Certification.
- IPC or other relevant industry certifications.
Pay
The compensation range for this role is $92,200 - $115,300. The final offer considers factors including role responsibilities, location, market conditions, candidate experience, key skills, and education/training.
