DRS Marlo Coil, part of Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems, manufactures durable heat transfer, refrigeration, and air handling equipment for industrial, commercial, utility, and marine sectors. Our custom-engineered solutions cool, heat, and dehumidify air streams for process applications and building comfort. Equipment is installed on most U.S. Navy surface combatant ships and submarines, with growth opportunities in Industrial and Commercial markets.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Quality technicians and inspectors for a program, commodity, or quality system process.
  • Promote innovative use of quality tools and champion proactive quality improvement techniques over traditional inspection activities.
  • Manage budget, cost, and schedule input for quality assignments.
  • Oversee quality inspection and test functions to review proposed and existing products and processes, avoiding or eliminating unnecessary quality issues; develop recommendations for improvements to increase product uniformity, reliability, and quality characteristics.
  • Ensure products are inspected and tested as required prior to shipment.
  • Develop and initiate methods and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Establish quality control programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production, processing equipment, and testing, measurement, and analytical facilities.
  • Review data submitted to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and assess cost and responsibility of discrepant material.
  • Direct quality control workers engaged in measuring, testing products, and tabulating quality and reliability data.
  • Provide technical and operational support to ensure quality control standards are met for various project tasks.
  • Develop reports and papers on the progress and status of assigned projects.
  • Develop corrective actions to support task problems and failures.
  • Prepare quality control reports, requirements, and documentation in response to RFPs, quotes, brochures, and manuals.
  • Review quality control program plans and inspection plans submitted for approval.
  • Plan, organize, and direct quality assurance audits for assigned customer projects.
  • Determine quality control methodology and techniques for inspecting and testing assigned contractor systems and equipment.
  • Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to product quality, reliability, and inspection.
  • Work with Facility/Manufacturing Managers to establish quality plans, procedures, and implementation on the manufacturing floor.
  • Develop short- and long-range plans to improve systems and processes while ensuring compliance with customer and internal quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve systematic and incidental quality problems.
  • Develop and implement processes to investigate and resolve customer concerns and issues, ensuring collaborative actions to maintain product quality.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Attend engineering, customer, or business meetings.
  • Supervise teams of technicians and inspectors.
  • Participate in special projects and new product development teams as directed.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in quality and process improvement.
  • Serve as liaison with customers on product quality or reliability issues.
  • Visit customers and suppliers to confer on specific quality issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or related technical field, or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Proficient technical expertise and application domain knowledge.
  • ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred.
  • Proficient with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, and statistics.
  • Ability to understand military specifications and read blueprints.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and writing skills.
  • Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
