About the Role
The Senior Superintendent is responsible for planning and oversight of all aspects of an assigned project including safety, subcontractor field management, schedule, and budget management. This includes pre-planning for all stages of the project (from pre- to post-construction). The Senior Superintendent works closely with the Senior Project Manager to meet all goals set for the specific project and manage all field operational duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- 15+ years of construction-related experience (required)
- Must be able to pass a federal background check (required)
- Proficient in computer applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Bluebeam (or equivalent software) (required)
- Ability to supervise multiple Superintendents and/or Assistants on larger-scale projects (required)
- Ability to organize and facilitate Superintendent meetings (required)
- Assist with human development by mentoring Superintendents, Assistants, and Foremen through various training programs both internally and externally (required)
- Demonstrated experience initiating and driving continuous improvement (required)
- HSPD-12 security screening (required)
- Two- or four-year degree in a construction-related field (preferred)
- 15+ years of field-related experience (preferred)
- Ability to assist in adjusting field labor from one project to another (preferred)
- Current OSHA 30 certification (preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication and leadership skills (preferred)
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, innovative and forward-thinking (preferred)
- Current CPR/First Aid training (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Manage all pre-construction related tasks including building crisis management plan, schedule, site logistics plan, site-specific rules and regulations, and safety plan.
- Manage and oversee all McGough field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers engaged in assigned projects, including conducting daily huddles, weekly work plans, job site coordination, and delivery of materials.
- Develop, manage, and implement the project schedule as designed and adjust as necessary. Work closely with the Project Management team to ensure the schedule remains updated.
- Work with the Project Management team throughout the project, including selecting subcontractors, writing RFIs (requests for information), developing and tracking procurement of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Work with the Quality Control team to ensure project-specific requirements are met. Implement a site-specific Quality Control plan with the QC department and Project Management. Develop Procore (or equivalent) activities such as Pre-Install Plans, First Work Inspections, Inspections, Observations (issues), and Punch lists.
- Ensure all on-site documentation, including drawings, logs, and inspection books, are updated and current. Assist in the documentation of As-Built drawings.
- Ensure alignment of the budget set for the project, including labor, materials, and equipment. Work with the Project Management team to assess weekly/monthly cost projections and expenditures. Manage the overall McGough site labor/material and equipment budget for the duration of the project.
- Work with the Project Management team to ensure all project closeout tasks are completed, including punch list execution, commissioning, final inspections, and owner training.
- Provide intentional leadership for the project team in Lean methodologies being employed onsite, standard work, and Pull-Plan sessions.
- Drive a safe environment by leading activities including job safety meetings and orientations. Ensure all OSHA and other required rules and regulations are met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors.
- Support and follow standard work.
- Participate in and support the implementation of Lean and continuous improvement culture.
- Foster strong partnerships with fellow McGough employees.
Office and Travel
Must be willing to travel regularly. First project located in Ellendale, North Dakota.
