About the Role

The Senior Superintendent provides overall leadership for on-site field management and administration as it relates to the onsite construction process in planning, coordination, and execution of work on time and within budget for larger and more complex projects. This position includes direct supervision of superintendents, assistants, foremen, subcontractors, and other construction-related personnel. The role involves coordination with clients, design team members, third-party consultants, and establishing project parameters while maintaining a safe workplace, enforcing quality control, enhancing client relationships, and promoting the company image.

Responsibilities

  • Leads large projects, manages schedules, coordinates trade partners, and ensures project success.
  • Oversees all field operations, ensuring timely and high-quality project delivery.
  • Leads all aspects of project execution in partnership with project management, from field operations and field engineering to coordination with trade partners, ensuring schedules, safety, quality standards, and contractual obligations are met.
  • Partners with the project management team to lead project teams with strong organizational skills and maintains focus on project goals.
  • Applies deep knowledge of construction systems and techniques to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality project operations.
  • Communicates and builds trust with project stakeholders, including owners, designers, and trade partners, facilitating collaboration and aligning goals.
  • Leads in resolving issues, managing conflict, and maintaining positive relationships among all project stakeholders.
  • Implements, utilizes, and enforces DAVIS quality best practices; creates, implements, and enforces quality plans.
  • Anticipates potential risks to the project and implements proactive measures to mitigate them.
  • Oversees the quality control process, ensuring all work is done to code and project specifications.
  • Uses project management software, scheduling systems, and other construction-related tools to manage project tasks and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Enforces safety plans and ensures high safety standards across all phases; mentors teams on safety standards.
  • Ensures full compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identifies potential risks (e.g., safety risks, scheduling delays, quality concerns) and provides feasible solutions.
  • Develops contingency plans to keep the project on track despite unexpected issues.
  • Reviews and manages project documentation such as contracts, drawings, and specifications to ensure constructability, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with contract requirements and effective project documentation, including safety reports and quality checklists.
  • Creates, manages, and reviews project schedules independently to ensure the project remains on track.
  • Directs the development of project schedules, working closely with trade partners to ensure timely completion.
  • Oversees the team’s field staff look-ahead schedule development.
  • Applies understanding of project contracts, scopes, and financial documentation to field operations.
  • Effectively manages contract obligations and financial tracking on the project.
  • Performs layout and control work for project needs.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of construction operations experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field and at least seven (7) years of progressive supervisory overall building construction experience.
  • Certifications for CPR/First Aid and OSHA 30-hour.
  • Proficiency with computer-based scheduling software, spreadsheet applications, project management software, and virtual construction software.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sustainable construction (e.g., LEED).
  • Ability to manage a team and lead a project to a successful outcome.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $134,000.00 - $180,000.00.
