For our client, a leader in the Technical Services space, we are seeking a Senior Substation Protection and Controls Engineer to join their team. This role will lead technical initiatives focused on scalable systems, platform reliability, and meaningful business transformation. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions.

About the role

The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Technical Services environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support substation protection and control design projects to ensure technical quality and timely delivery
  • Create and refine relay one-line diagrams to define protection zones and system topology
  • Develop detailed AC and DC schematics for substation equipment safety and reliability
  • Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and layouts for efficient construction and maintenance
  • Build accurate BOMs in alignment with project criteria and client standards
  • Perform quality control checks on designs for accuracy, safety, and constructability
  • Provide technical guidance during the installation, testing, and commissioning phases

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • 4+ years (Senior) or 8+ years (Lead) of substation protection and control design experience
  • Proficient in leading and executing substation protection and control projects
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal teams and clients
  • Team-oriented with demonstrated leadership abilities and a collaborative mindset
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision needed and strong analytical problem-solving capabilities

Pay

$107,900 – $195,050 annually
