Senior Substation Project Engineer (PE)
About the role
In the role of Senior Substation Project Engineer, we'll count on you to:
- Cook up the work of design engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
- Build client relationships and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings
- Take charge of technical leadership within a project execution team
- Check in with various governing agencies for code compliance
- Run schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at the project site in collaboration with the Project Manager and other disciplines
- Divvy up the workload throughout the project to ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule
- Work with the Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed
- Lead the activities of other engineering professionals and be a mentor to other staff members as needed
- Do other duties as needed
Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- 10+ years of substation design experience is preferred
- Preference given to professionals with substation physical/outdoor design experience, including developing yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and associated bills of materials
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
- Experience with industry software including: AutoCAD, Revit, Aspen, ETAP, EasyPower, etc.
- Experience preparing specifications and drawings, and other engineering documents
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- A minimum of 10 years of experience
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
