About the role

In the role of Senior Substation Project Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Cook up the work of design engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
  • Build client relationships and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings
  • Take charge of technical leadership within a project execution team
  • Check in with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Run schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at the project site in collaboration with the Project Manager and other disciplines
  • Divvy up the workload throughout the project to ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule
  • Work with the Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed
  • Lead the activities of other engineering professionals and be a mentor to other staff members as needed
  • Do other duties as needed

Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 10+ years of substation design experience is preferred
  • Preference given to professionals with substation physical/outdoor design experience, including developing yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and associated bills of materials
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
  • Experience with industry software including: AutoCAD, Revit, Aspen, ETAP, EasyPower, etc.
  • Experience preparing specifications and drawings, and other engineering documents
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
