As a senior contributor on Revamp’s High Voltage Substation team, you will serve as a subject-matter expert across the spectrum of substation design, primarily focused on both protection & control (P&C) and physical design. You will take ownership of QA/QC reviews, act as a confident internal and external technical resource, review and redline design deliverables, cross-check drawings, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary stakeholders in an employee-owned culture where every individual’s contributions strengthen project outcomes, increase company success, and meaningfully advance the clean-energy transition.

The advertised salary is listed in USD; the range in CAD is approximately C$186,000 - 236,000.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Design & Quality Assurance
    • Serve as a multi-disciplinary subject matter expert in substation design with a focus on P&C and physical scopes; broad substation and transmission/distribution knowledge is beneficial.
    • Lead QA/QC reviews of substation design deliverables across both P&C and physical scopes.
    • Redline P&C drawing packages and cross-check with physical drawings for consistency and accuracy.
    • Create and review complex electrical engineering plans, details, calculations, and schedules.
    • Develop and review equipment specifications, applying advanced knowledge of substation electrical design.
    • Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
    • May act as Engineer of Record if eligible.

  • Mentorship & Collaboration
    • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and staff engineers.
    • Collaborate with cross-discipline departments, including studies, structural, and civil teams, providing design context and cross-checks without needing to lead their work directly.
    • Partner with discipline leads to maintain design standards and consistency.
  • Field & Additional Duties
    • Perform field visits, with up to ~10% travel required, to validate designs and build practical, constructable knowledge.
    • Perform essential duties, including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, specifically in substation design.
  • Extensive, diversified knowledge of substation electrical design across both protection & control (P&C) and physical scopes, including the ability to redline and cross-check P&C and physical drawings for consistency, quality, and constructability.
  • Ability to independently apply advanced engineering principles, develop or improve techniques and processes, and review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Experience owning larger or more complex projects, overseeing a small suite of projects, or supporting portfolio-level execution with responsibility for scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables.
  • Comfort serving as a discipline or team point of contact in client-facing settings, with strong-to-advanced verbal and written communication skills and the judgment to answer technical questions clearly and confidently.
  • Ability to operate with limited oversight, seeking guidance mainly on complex or conflicting-criteria assignments.
  • Willingness to mentor junior engineers and coordinate multi-person deliverables.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems and handle multiple projects simultaneously and independently.
  • Willingness to perform field visits and travel up to ~10%.
