About the role

Performs technical activities on assigned projects while adhering to discipline-specific policies and procedures. Participates in technical studies, investigations, and designs to support projects. Develops complex engineering solutions with guidance from senior engineers and makes independent decisions for low-to-moderate complexity tasks. Provides technical direction to Designers and CAD Operators to ensure timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures company technical policies and procedures are followed during project execution.
  • Assists in developing design approaches and concepts; seeks guidance from senior technical staff as needed.
  • Provides discipline-specific engineering for systems and designs of low to moderate complexity.
  • Delegates work tasks, collaborates with subordinate staff, and reviews delegated work for accuracy.
  • Assists in executing technical training programs for design staff.
  • Contributes to proposals and client presentations as requested.
  • Supports the performance management process by providing feedback for evaluations.
  • Coordinates project designs with other disciplines, including attending project meetings.
  • Performs engineering studies and design analyses; assists in establishing budgets, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Reviews shop drawings, records changes, and communicates with suppliers, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Conducts on-site inspections during construction and coordinates design requirements with contractors and suppliers.
  • Uses design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Actively participates in professional organizations and client groups to enhance the firm’s reputation.
  • Completes assigned work within the allotted time frame and budget.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Informally supervises CAD Operators, Designers, Junior Associates, Associates, Engineers, and Engineer IIs under the direction of the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Professionally licensed engineer with a Bachelor’s (B.S.) in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience and/or training; equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.
  • Experience with consulting firms, leading design projects, and overseeing design tasks.
  • Experience in thermal and electrical generation plants, distribution, and electrical substations.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering License.
