Senior Structural Engineer - Industrial

About the Role

WSP is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing Industrial Center of Excellence (ICoE) within the Property & Buildings business line. This role supports a broad portfolio of high-profile industrial, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, battery, food & beverage, life sciences, logistics, and mission-critical facility projects across North America. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide structural engineering expertise from planning and design through construction and commissioning, working alongside industry-leading professionals on complex and innovative industrial projects. The position offers flexibility in location and may be based in Boise, ID or Madison, WI.

A major component of our design process is Building Information Modeling (BIM), particularly using Autodesk Revit Structural as an integrated collaboration tool for communicating 3-D design to project teams, owners, and construction professionals. The role emphasizes autonomy, ownership, and decision-making in achieving project goals.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for building cores, shells, and foundations, including steel, concrete, and masonry elements.
• Prepare structural drawings, specifications, and calculations in compliance with applicable codes (IBC, ACI, AISC).
• Coordinate with architects and other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil) to integrate structural design into overall facility plans.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction phase support.
• Perform load calculations, seismic/wind analysis, and evaluate structural integrity for retrofits and expansions.
• Support permitting and regulatory compliance; attend client and design coordination meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in structural design for facilities or industrial projects.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, including STAAD, RAM, Risa, AutoCAD, Revit, and 2D drafting.
• Knowledge of building codes and standards; strong technical writing and coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• PE license.
• Experience with Navisworks.
• Experience with food & beverage or federal facility projects; familiarity with BIM workflows.
• Previous design and consulting experience.

Pay

Expected salary range (all locations): $89,600 - $130,600. The final compensation will be based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal equity, as well as the specific geographic location.
