Overview
As our Structural engineer, you will play a pivotal role in bringing our rocket systems to life. This role will focus on taking vehicle structures from concept to production with detailed component and system level structural design including 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, analysis, and subcomponent specifications. From small structures elements (Like electronic boxes) to complex structures (like payload fairing and rocket tankage), you will ensure that every structural system is designed for manufacturability, minimal mass, and performance. Your designs, in close collaboration with the analysis and fabrication teams, will form the backbone of our rocket’s success.
Impacts & Outcomes
- Produce & rapidly iterate conceptual designs in CAD for structural components and assembles, resulting in a converged vehicle structural architecture ready for preliminary design review (PDR) and downstream analysis, manufacturing, and test integration
- Prepare drawing packages & technical reports, enabling accurate fabrication, inspection, and structural design reviews while supporting efficient transition from design to build and test
- Identify and solve technical challenges with due speed, preventing structural issues from becoming mass, performance, or schedule risks to the vehicle program
- Engage with more junior engineers across the team with mentorship, raising structural design quality, analysis rigor, and documentation consistency while accelerating the development of future vehicle structures leaders
Definition of design requirements and subcomponent specifications
- Ensure structural performance, mass targets, and load paths are clearly defined and verifiable across design, analysis, fabrication, and test
Support the structural testing in the lab and integrated on vehicle
- Enable validation of structural performance, load paths, and margins under representative operating conditions
Develop test plans, monitor test activities, and document test data
- Ensure test objectives are met, results are traceable, and data supports structural verification and informed design decisions
What You Bring to the Team
- Mechanical, mechatronic or Aerospace engineering degree (Required)
- 6 years design experience (Required)
- CAD software such as NX, CREO, or Solidworks (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, high-accountability environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Organized, detail-oriented approach to work and documentation
- Able to learn new tools, systems, or domains as needed
Bonus Points
- Experience in high-growth, startup, or technically complex environments
- Proven track record of large-scale metallic aerospace structures (Aircraft Fuselage / Payload Fairings / Rocket Propellant Tanks)
