Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

TERRA Engineering, Ltd. is seeking a skilled Civil/Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position involves applying diverse and innovative techniques, overseeing project designs, and coordinating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Participate in project proposals, client interviews, and stakeholder presentations
• Determine project team and staffing requirements
• Contribute to and supervise design concepts, studies, design options, and establish design criteria
• Perform complex analyses and design calculations, document design procedures, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Prepare design documents including schematics, design details, calculations, specifications, and utility coordination
• Coordinate project deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and commissioning documents
• Lead construction administration activities, resolve construction-related issues, and manage close-out documentation
• Create and enforce TERRA standards and guidelines
• Author marketing materials and develop relationships with team members, vendors, and authorities having jurisdiction
• Mentor, train, and provide oversight to staff members
• Recruit, interview, and select candidates

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field from an ABET/EAC-accredited program
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Preferred additional credentials such as CFM, CPESC, ENV SP, LEED AP, etc.

Qualifications

• Ability to engage professionally in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with computer-aided design software and other engineering tools
• Strong project management skills
• Public speaking and presentation abilities
• Understanding of industry and construction practices
• Ability to conduct site visits (may require a valid driver's license)
• Knowledge of office and field health and safety requirements
