Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

This position is part of a Building Structures focused team, reporting to a Director of Building Structures. The Building Structures team executes projects throughout the United States and several US Territories, with opportunities to support non-US based teams. The successful candidate will work both independently and with a diverse team of professionals and subconsultants across the country.

Responsibilities

• Self-perform and/or assist others in performing required work at any stage of a project from schematic design through construction administration
• Perform calculations, sketches, drawing production, specifications, and multi-discipline coordination on a regular basis
• Conduct observations of and evaluate existing conditions in both the field and via existing historical drawings
• Work on multiple projects concurrently requiring coordination between multiple EXP offices and outside consultants
• Travel occasionally to project sites, usually for a single night or two at a time

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structures (minimum requirement)
• Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering with 8 years of experience focused on building design
• Professional Engineering licensure required
• Licensure as a Structural Engineer via structural specific examination (Structural I/II, Structural Gravity/Lateral) preferred
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering strongly preferred

Skills

• Solid understanding of structural analysis software such as RAM, RISA, ETABS
• Strong Revit skills in both modeling and sheet creation at minimum; family creation, knowledge of parameter use, and templates are a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to write persuasively and communicate technical subject matter concisely to a less technical audience
• Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members
