About the Role

Design Point-of-Purchase (POP) displays from conception to completion. The role involves analyzing customer specifications and requirements to provide structural and material recommendations, testing prototypes, and creating preliminary instruction sheets. You will determine optimal production processes by preparing printer and die layouts, creating instruction sheets, and carton pack-outs for final displays. The position requires advanced problem-solving skills related to display complexity, ease of assembly, and production efficiency.

You will effectively communicate complete and accurate details to internal departments and act as a liaison between departments and clients. Responsibilities include addressing internal and external inquiries or complaints, interacting with the manufacturing process, and completing quality checks from concept to final output. The role requires the ability to work both independently and in a team environment, directly with sales and customers as needed.

You will work with the Creative Director to train and support interns and new hires, administer the Creative department during the Director’s absence, and assist in maintaining a photo library of white and production samples of displays.

Responsibilities

  • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on layout principles and aesthetic design concepts.
  • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.
  • Confer with clients and Sales representatives to discuss and review customer requirements.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations and assess compatibility with equipment.
  • Review final layouts, provide approval, explain, demonstrate, and suggest improvements to clients and Sales Representatives.
  • Use computer software to generate new images and customize designs to meet division needs.
  • Maintain an archive of images, photos, or previous work products.
  • Research new software or design concepts.
  • Provide training and ongoing guidance to staff members to develop employee potential.
  • Evaluate, program, and purchase equipment used in the department to enhance products and services.

Requirements

  • College degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a corrugate structural designer.
  • Proficiency in the following programs:
    • Artois CAD
    • Illustrator
    • Photoshop
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to hand draw.
  • Experience using Solidworks and 3D rendering software.
