Senior Structural Analyst -- Upper Stage Structures

About the role

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering techniques to collect, aggregate, and analyze data measuring the performance and reliability of Aerospace systems and components to or improve design, producibility, and efficiencies.
  • Evaluate and analyzes structural systems to establish environments and ensure that hardware is appropriately specified for those environments.
  • Develop predictions of structural dynamic responses through a variety of analytical techniques, including hand calculations, FEA, some of which may require the development of software tools to implement algorithms developed specifically for the application at hand.
  • Identify trends in technical performance or reliability and prepares reports detailing these trends as well as anticipated impact or cost to the organization.
  • Improve and maintain current systems or create new systems; apply engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience performing structural analysis.
  • Strong understanding of material properties, failure mechanisms, and structural dynamics.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in leading cross-functional projects.
  • Strong understanding of product development cycle in space industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software. FEMAP required.
  • Candidate must be able to write technical reports and to present results to a multi-disciplined team.
  • Ability to lead projects and work effectively in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • MS degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of aerospace and/or launch vehicle structural requirements.
  • Experience in large scale structural test and instrumentation.
  • Loads development experience.
  • Experience building and maintaining large system finite element models (FEM).

Pay

Base Pay Range For WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20 Other Site Ranges May Differ
