About the role

Day & Zimmermann Munitions Group is seeking a Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist to develop and execute sourcing strategies, negotiate supplier agreements, drive cost savings, mitigate supply chain risks, and collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, and program management teams to support complex defense manufacturing initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute long-term strategic sourcing agreements via successful negotiations for key commodities and materials to support production deadlines.
• Implement strategies to leverage overall Munitions' spend.
• Identify and implement make-versus-buy analyses.
• Lead development of sourcing strategies for critical components such as machined parts, energetics, or specialty materials.
• Analyze supplier cost structures and market trends.
• Manage supplier relationships by identifying, qualifying, developing, and maintaining new suppliers to support business growth and supply chain resilience.
• Facilitate supplier meetings and visits to client facilities as required.
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities and areas where cost savings may enhance operating efficiencies.
• Manage and engage suppliers for auditing purposes to ensure specification and quality requirements comply with prime contracts.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management to ensure supply chain alignment with product and program requirements.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability and supplier capability.
• Identify areas of risk and develop mitigation plans.
• Determine areas where cost savings may be achieved while enhancing operating efficiencies.

Requirements

• Ability to prioritize workload to support internal/external customer requirements and production schedules in a matrixed organization.
• Knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and applicable government regulations, including legal contracting principles.
• Strong sourcing, negotiating, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, including decision-making, change management, conflict management, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and SAP/ERP Systems.
• Experience in government contracting, munitions industry, and manufacturing environments.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Clearance may be required.
• Must possess a valid REAL ID-compliant driver’s license (with a gold or black star in the upper corner) or a current passport indicating federal compliance.
• Successful completion of background screening process.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $90,640 - $135,960. Final offer amount may vary based on experience and geographic location.
