Senior Strategic Automation Project Manager

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Strategic Automation Project Manager to join the team of a leader in the Food & Beverages space. This role will lead strategic automation and controls initiatives that support modernization across manufacturing and engineering operations. You will drive a multi-year roadmap, aligning project scope, design standards, and execution plans with business priorities. The position requires close partnership with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors to deliver capital projects from concept through startup support and closeout.

Location: Remote — US-based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available.

Compensation: $115,000 – $150,000 annually.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a multi-year automation engineering roadmap
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and scope
• Lead automation and controls modernization initiatives
• Manage automation and capital engineering projects from concept to closeout
• Oversee engineering design standards for automation systems
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for project delivery
• Create business cases and monitor project performance against objectives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, Controls, or Industrial Engineering and 8+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience
• 2+ years of team management or project leadership experience
• Strong understanding of industrial automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
• Basic coding and scripting skills for software integration and industrial communication protocols
• Experience in automation project execution from design to startup support
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and automation documentation
• Strong grasp of capital project management principles
