Senior Staff Software Engineer, Transform

About the role

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Transform team, you are a primary architect of FloQast’s vision for the "Operating System for Accounting." This role is for a technical visionary who thrives on solving "impossible" distributed systems problems and understands that the best code empowers an entire engineering organization to move faster. You’ll define the technical North Star for FloQast Transform, our centralized hub where accountants create, test, deploy, and manage bespoke AI Agents, driving step-function improvements in our Visual Agent Builder to enable global brands to automate complex workflows without writing code. This position is hybrid in our San Jose office.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver core platform capabilities powering FloQast Transform and next-generation AI-driven workflows, ensuring distributed systems, AI Agent infrastructure, and visual workflow builders are scalable, resilient, and elegant.
• Lead high-level design discussions to resolve complex trade-offs, establishing rigorous engineering best practices that raise technical standards across our automation ecosystem.
• Bridge "what’s possible" and "what’s needed" by partnering with Product and Design to translate ambiguous business goals into executable technical roadmaps for intuitive, agentic accounting automation.
• Mentor senior engineers, fostering a culture of deep technical curiosity and high-performance execution, with success measured by the growth of those around you.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience shipping complex, enterprise-grade software, with a perspective informed by seeing systems succeed and fail.
• Expertise in modern backend stacks, specifically Go, Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS, with a focus on APIs, platform-first design, scalable workflow orchestration, and secure, compliant SaaS architectures.
• Strong product intuition and an outcome-driven mindset; you build to drive business impact, solve real customer pain points, and empower accounting teams to automate rules-based workflows.
• Ability to navigate "grey areas," turning napkin-sketch ideas into production-ready reality through influence and technical clarity.

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $188,000 - $282,000. Compensation includes a competitive and elaborate benefits package.
