About the role

We are hiring exceptional Senior and Staff Software Engineers to join Healthie’s Web Engineering team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in developing new features and enhancing existing solutions for our platform, all while ensuring the highest quality in production systems. You’ll help scale our virtual-first healthcare delivery infrastructure and collaborate with a talented group of engineers and product teams. You’ll work primarily with our monolithic architecture, employing Rails, React, TypeScript, and GraphQL to build, maintain, and scale Healthie’s solutions. Your expertise will also be crucial in leading technical projects, providing guidance to junior engineers, and optimizing the platform to enhance the user experience for our healthcare customers.

As a Senior or Staff Software Engineer, you will take ownership of feature development, from concept through to deployment, ensuring our platform remains robust, scalable, and aligned with our mission to improve healthcare outcomes. At Healthie, we are AI-enabled and AI-accelerated in how we build. We are looking for team members who actively leverage AI-powered development tools, embrace automation, and help teams adopt modern, AI-assisted engineering practices to increase velocity and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and maintainable Rails applications in production environments.
  • Collaborate with product teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Optimize application performance, solve database query problems, and modularize monolithic applications.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitLab.
  • Work with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, and IaaS technologies like Terraform, Kubernetes, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Monitor application performance and ensure top-tier functionality across integrations.
  • Provide technical leadership, guide a development team in delivering efficient solutions, and participate in code reviews.
  • Contribute to the development of modern, AI-assisted engineering practices within the team.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of recent experience shipping Rails applications in production environments, with familiarity in working with monolithic, service-oriented, or microservice architectures.
  • Proficient with Rails, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Postgres, and Redis, and have hands-on experience managing production stacks in Ruby and Rails.
  • A deep understanding of best practices in coding standards, complexity reduction, refactoring, schema design, and Domain-Driven Design.
  • Experience with testing frameworks such as RSpec and Capybara, and are skilled in writing unit tests, higher-level tests, and structuring codebases for optimal maintainability and bug prevention.
  • Experience with CI/CD, cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, and IaaS technologies like Terraform, Kubernetes, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Familiarity with monitoring application performance and ensuring top-tier functionality across integrations.

Pay

The base salary for this role is: - Senior level: $185,000 - $205,000 per year plus equity, annual bonus, & benefits - Staff level: $205,000 - $235,000 per year plus equity, annual bonus, & benefits U.S. work authorization is required, Healthie does not provide sponsorship.

Schedule

This is a full-time, hybrid position located in NYC or LA (3 days per week in office).
