About the role
Managed Spark Service (formerly Dataproc) enables open source data analytics and data processing users to modernize their open-source big data analytics workloads in the cloud. Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another.
Responsibilities
- Define product differentiating features in an ambiguous problem space.
- Build high-impact customer-facing features which make Cloud Dataproc the best place to run Hadoop and Spark in the cloud.
- Make Cloud Dataproc the best product for data science and engineering workloads.
- Influence and oversee across Big-Data open-source initiatives including contributions to Spark, Flink, Presto etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience programming in C++.
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
- Experience with cloud computing, cloud APIs and control planes.
- Experience with software architecture and scalability.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Experience in long-term technology tests across interdependent services, including scalability, maintainability, deployability, reliability, and supportability.
- Experience in driving software architecture evolution both tactically and strategically.
- Ability to influence across multiple teams and geos.
Skills
- Technical leadership and project management skills.
- Experience with open-source big data technologies like Spark, Flink, Presto.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing and cloud APIs.
- Experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Experience with software architecture and scalability.

Pay
US: $262000 - $365000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits
