About the Team

Join our Product and Test Engineering team, a specialized group of ~14 Test and Product Engineers within Supply Chain Operations. Based on-site at our San Jose HQ, you'll work hands-on with physical hardware in our on-site lab and occasionally at our manufacturing partner in San Jose. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with internal HW Platform, Component, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to create and deliver innovative solutions and drive best-in-class quality through robust testing of server products built at external manufacturing sites and shipped worldwide. We foster a collaborative, learning-driven culture that thrives on continuous improvement and dynamic technologies.

Reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Product and Test Engineering, you will enjoy access to executive-level decision-making and the autonomy needed to drive real impact and change.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated individual ready to learn new technologies, products, and services with a focus on customer quality in an agile Supply Chain organization. You will lead and grow with primary responsibilities centered on developing and maintaining scalable, robust automated functional test solutions for manufacturing testing of server-based products.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, write, and debug scalable automated test solutions for server and storage platforms, including test frameworks capable of handling PXE boot ISOs, network provisioning (DHCP, VLANs), and multi-node validation.
  • Design database schemes (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and API connections to collect, store, and analyze product genealogy, real-time test records, yield metrics, and failure telemetry across SMC partners.
  • Partner directly with vendors and equipment suppliers to procure, build, and scale testing solutions and hardware infrastructure required to support growing platform capacity and product launches.
  • Enforce software lifecycle management (SDLC) across test environments using Git/GitHub, JIRA, and Agile/Sprint workflows. Standardize branch management, code reviews, continuous deployment, and release tagging for production factory code.
  • Leverage AI platforms and code-assistance tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLMs, predictive ML models) to streamline script creation, automate complex failure log parsing, and accelerate root-cause failure analysis (RCFA/FMEA).
  • Support product launch and mass production by driving test strategies, capacity analysis, and yield optimization directly with contract manufacturers and SMC partners. Lead factory triage and manage hardware/software/firmware ECOs.
  • Serve as a technical authority for the team. Mentor, coach, and upskill junior and mid-level test engineers on best coding practices, hardware troubleshooting, and automated framework design.
  • Manage and apply standard software lifecycle code development methodologies, including planning, coding, building, testing, releasing, deploying, and monitoring.
  • Lead large projects autonomously, developing project plans and directing cross-functional teams to deliver objectives.
  • Coordinate and apply Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for Firmware, Software, and Hardware changes.
  • Provide escalation-level triage for all factory test-related issues and support field issues related to NX platforms.
  • Design software solutions that are robust, scalable, consistent, and reliable for large-scale production environments.
  • Accurately distinguish between hardware and software product issues.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills under tight time constraints.
  • Communicate effectively, presenting complex technical issues and project status clearly to peers, management, and cross-functional teams.
  • Drive innovation, leverage AI to improve engineering efficiency, and maintain a bias for action in taking on new challenges.
  • Understand product specifications and features to drive appropriate software solutions and test requirements, including fault detection and FMEA.
  • Author and maintain process, test, and design documents.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 15+ years of direct experience developing software solutions and automation for manufacturing-related production test integration processes.
  • Prior relevant experience in automation for testing x86/AMD server and storage products, or other networking/hardware system-related products.
  • Strong proficiency in automation software and scripting languages: Python, C/C#/C++, Perl, TCL, .NET, NI TestStand, JSON, React.
  • Proven expertise in test infrastructure architecture and standard database systems (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
  • Strong Operating System and Network knowledge: Linux, Windows, VLANs, Switching, DHCP.
  • Deep understanding of code release methodologies leveraging Git/GitHub and industry-standard CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate code development, automate routine tasks, predictive data models, and optimize test workflows.
  • Experience operating in an Agile environment using tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with building PXE Boot ISOs, REST/SOAP APIs, UI Design, and analytic platforms is helpful.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional projects independently, driving technical alignment with internal and external partners, and coaching engineering peers.
  • Knowledge of Hypervisor, Virtualized, and Containerized solutions is advantageous.
  • Be Hungry, Honest, Humble, and have Fun!
