Senior / Staff Backend Engineer

The Senior / Staff Backend Engineer will join a high-impact engineering team building advanced AI-powered solutions for real-world safety and threat intelligence challenges. Key responsibilities include:

1. Design and own critical backend systems that process real-time data and deliver actionable insights to enterprise security teams.
2. Work on highly available, low-latency platforms while contributing to AI-driven workflows and complex data integrations.
3. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teammates in a fully remote, distributed engineering environment.
4. Drive 0→1 product development by identifying technical solutions, making architectural decisions, and delivering production-ready features.
5. Improve system reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability through strong engineering practices.

Requirements

• Senior or Staff-level backend engineering experience with a strong track record of building production systems.
• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of complex projects, products, or major features from concept through production.
• Experience designing and developing low-latency, highly available distributed backend systems.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
• Experience working across multiple engineering disciplines in a flexible, fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in an asynchronous remote setting.
• Ability to independently drive technical initiatives while contributing to broader product and engineering strategy.
• Experience building workflow, automation, or user-configurable systems is a plus.
• Experience designing or maintaining AI/ML pipelines is preferred.
• Experience integrating external data sources such as threat intelligence, social data, or real-time event feeds is a plus.
• Previous experience working in an early-stage startup environment or small engineering team is preferred.
