Responsibilities
- Independently handle lawsuits involving premise liability, products liability, commercial and personal automobile accidents, construction site accidents, subrogation and property damage claims.
- Prepare pleadings, written discovery, reports, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies without supervision.
- Conduct legal research and independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients.
- Analyze substantive and procedural legal and factual issues.
- Provide effective and timely communications, legal advice and other services to clients and claims customers on legal and factual issues in a technology driven environment.
- Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures.
- Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial hearings and alternative dispute resolutions.
- Prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases.
- Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain high level of professional expertise.
Qualifications
- (7+) years of tort litigation experience preferred.
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and license to practice in Massachusetts.
- Member in good standing of Massachusetts Bar.
- Admission to Rhode Island or New Hampshire Bar is a plus.
- Federal admission is a plus.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize duties and time are essential.
- Strong communication, computer and technological skills, and the ability to quickly leverage new software are required.
