Overview

The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabling over 100 million miles of autonomous driving on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

About the Role

You will report to an Engineering Director and set the overarching technical architecture for the in-car experience (ICX), bridging the gap between the different layers of the stack, from low-level hardware bring-up to our OS to rider-facing apps and features. You will identify broad, cross-team bottlenecks and translate them into clear, actionable engineering milestones for the teams to execute on that improve both velocity and stability. You will steer the technical integration of complex, high-impact features and act as a force multiplier for the organization by establishing high standards for code health, system reliability, and testing excellence, while providing deep technical mentorship to junior and senior engineers.
