Senior Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper

About the role
As a Senior Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper, you will perform general bookkeeping, payroll, and business advising for a variety of individual and business clients. You will help build long-lasting relationships by providing the highest level of service and oversight.
Responsibilities
- Provide accounting and advisory services for a variety of clients, including individuals and businesses in diverse industries.
- Perform general accounting duties: enter transactions, reconcile general ledger, credit card, and cash accounts; propose and record journal entries.
- Perform complex adjustments and reconciliations; clean up accounting systems and records.
- Utilize accounting software to prepare financial reports, ensuring adherence to accounting standards such as GAAP.
- Propose and set up accounting systems and services for new clients.
- Prepare payroll and payroll tax returns; prepare and file sales tax returns; record and report fixed assets and personal property.
- Provide high-level service on complex projects using strong industry knowledge and research abilities.
- Conduct proactive risk and compliance assessments and recommend best practices to clients.
- Oversee and review work from entry-level staff; train and oversee staff accountants.
- Manage personal and team projects, competing priorities, and ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to deadlines.
- Develop relationships with clients and gain understanding of their finances and businesses.
- Interpret financial reports provided by clients and within accounting software; propose and record journal entries for business clients.
- Build knowledge of tax laws and accounting practices to better serve clients’ needs.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably serving or across multiple clients and industries.
- Superior accuracy and technical expertise; knowledge of client industries.
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
- Expert use of accounting software and systems; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive problem-solving and project management.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience with QuickBooks Accounting Software.

Pay
The expected salary range for this role is $70,000 – $100,000 per year. Compensation decisions depend on factors including education, training, skillset, credentials/certifications, relevant work experience, geographic work location, role scope and responsibilities, internal level and peer equity, and market considerations.
