We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our leadership team. You will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing complex reconciliations, overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to various accounting activities. Proficiency in MS Dynamics GP, a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and prior experience in a senior staff accounting role are essential for success in this position. Responsibilities
- Oversee and assist in day‑to‑day accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, cash, and general ledger activities.
- Manage and monitor accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, payment application, account reconciliation, aging review, and follow‑up on outstanding balances.
- Process and record payments and financial transactions accurately and timely, ensuring proper documentation, authorization, and adherence to established procedures and internal controls.
- Support and/or process payroll activities, including reviewing payroll data for accuracy, reconciling payroll‑related accounts, and ensuring payroll transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger.
- Reconcile and analyze assigned balance sheet accounts to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to facilitate the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
- Assist in the preparation of comprehensive financial statements, reports, and analyses in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, organizational policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Maintain a solid understanding of the organization's financial systems, particularly MS Dynamics GP.
- Provide assistance during audits by preparing and organizing pertinent financial documentation and responding to audit requests.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in an FQHC required; minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and understanding of accounting concepts.
- Experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, payment processing, reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
- Proficiency in using accounting software, preferably MS Dynamics GP, and skilled in MS Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a track record of accurate and meticulous work.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
