Senior Staff Accountant
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is a key member of the accounting department who is responsible for ethically performing tasks that follow all laws, regulations, and company policies. These tasks include, in part, maintaining the organization's cost accounting system, communicating any changes and making recommendations as needed to management. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for the fixed asset and capital acquisition program and providing support to completing the annual audit. This opportunity represents Shoppa’s Material Handling and requires professionalism, strong communication skills, attention to detail, great attitude, and outstanding support to other departments.
Essential Functions
- Support monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information.
- Answer questions asked by department heads regarding financial statements.
- Responsible for general ledger. Fixed asset posting, processing and reporting.
- Maintain bank accounts by requesting disbursements.
- Monitor reserve accounts and short-term fund investments.
- Review and reconcile bank statements Research and reconcile all discrepancies.
- Gather data and consolidate monthly sales commissions.
- Auditing and verifying documents. Following internal controls. Completing data backups.
- Prepare and file multistate sales tax and property tax.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis.
- Assist with Floor Plan accounting.
Qualifications
- BS degree in accounting, finance or relevant field (CPA or working towards your certification a plus)
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in general or tax accounting role preferably in the material handling, industrial equipment or automotive industry
- Experience in SAP, MS Navision, MS Office Suite (Proficient- Word; Advanced- Excel)
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
- Great customer service and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Physical Demands And Working Conditions
Office employees typically sit for long periods and perform tasks that require fine motor skills, such as typing or using a mouse. They may occasionally stand, walk, or lift up to 30 pounds, like files or office supplies. The work environment is climate-controlled with moderate noise, and employees work indoors and sometimes outdoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal temperatures.
