Senior Staff Accountant

About the Role

Oliver Inc., a growing company with over 250 years of experience in printing and packaging, is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial reporting and smooth day-to-day accounting operations, working closely with the Regional Controller.

Responsibilities

• Bill customers for products/services shipped on a timely basis, ensuring correct and approved amounts.
• Apply customer payments and other amounts received promptly.
• Maintain records and report on annual customer incentive programs.
• Administer the Company's Credit Insurance Program.
• Monitor day's sales outstanding and maintain current customer account balances.
• Set up new customer accounts, including tax exemption records when required.
• Perform weekly AP check runs and upload data into the banking system.
• Back up accounts payable processing and receptionist duties as needed.
• Prepare month-end bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations.
• Assist in month-end financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and analysis.
• Prepare schedules, reports, and work on projects as directed by the Regional Controller and Site Leader.
• Support the annual financial audit by outside accountants.
• Become an expert in the company's accounts receivable, accounts payable, and job management modules of the ERP system.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting operations and reporting efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting experience (manufacturing experience is a must-have)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
• Knowledge of GAAP and general business principles
• Ability to work in a group atmosphere with problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
• High attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

• Strong initiative to meet deadlines, especially during the monthly close cycle
