Job Summary

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior Staff Accountant serves as a key contributor within our accounting team, building on the foundational work of our Staff Accountant while taking on greater ownership of the general ledger, month-end close, and process improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who has gained speed and autonomy on day-to-day transactions and begin taking on broader analytical and cross-functional responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Own and manage accounts payable and/or accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
  • Perform complex account reconciliations and bank reconciliations, independently investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintain, reconcile, and analyze general ledger accounts; identify trends and flag issues proactively.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries with a higher degree of autonomy and accuracy.
  • Lead or significantly contribute to month-end and year-end close processes, including financial statement preparation.
  • Support audit and tax preparation activities, serving as a reliable point of contact for documentation and inquiries.
  • Respond to and resolve vendor and customer inquiries; escalate complex issues appropriately.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives — identify inefficiencies and propose and implement solutions.
  • Assist with ERP optimization projects and contribute to system enhancements.
  • Support ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests from leadership.
  • Contribute to the development of accounting procedures and internal controls documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or Oracle. NetSuite experience a plus.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail — you catch the things others miss.
  • Able to analyze, troubleshoot, and improve processes in a complex and growing environment.
  • Integrity, accountability, and personal leadership — you lead cross-functionally without needing formal authority.
  • Coachable and accountable: you own your mistakes, learn from them, and take feedback seriously.

What You Bring

  • Drive — You don’t wait to be pointed at work. You identify what needs to happen and make it happen.
  • Grit — You grind through hard problems, absorb setbacks, and come back sharper. The work isn’t always clean, and you’re fine with that.
  • Emotional intelligence — You read rooms, build trust across functions and seniority levels, and know when to push and when to listen.
  • Team-first orientation — You understand that individual wins don’t mean much if the team loses. You pick up what needs picking up.
  • Winner’s mentality — You keep score, hold yourself to a high standard, and genuinely care about outcomes — not just activity.
  • Enthusiast mindset — You get the customer because in some way you are the customer. Passion for cars, performance, or the broader enthusiast culture is a genuine differentiator here.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 2-6 years of experience in an accounting role, with demonstrated progression in scope and responsibility.
  • Experience working in a hyper-growth, manufacturing, or e-commerce environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with Power BI and other data visualization tools.
  • CPA candidate or actively pursuing CPA license preferred.

Our Core Values

  • TEAMWORK: Together, we create wins! We win as a unit. Collaboration isn’t a soft skill here — it’s how work gets done. We have each other’s backs and celebrate shared success.
  • MOTORHEADS: Built for car enthusiasts, by car enthusiasts. We build for people who care deeply about their vehicles — because that’s who we are. Genuine enthusiasm for the craft isn’t optional; it drives everything.
  • INNOVATION: Innovate or die. We don’t preserve the status quo. We challenge assumptions, explore new solutions, and bring a restless curiosity to every category and every problem.
  • SERVICE: Going beyond to be the best. We hold ourselves to a higher standard in everything — for our customers, our channel partners, and each other. Good enough is never good enough.
  • HEART: It drives us forward. We bring genuine passion to the work. Heart is what separates going through the motions from making something worth being proud of. We care.
  • INTEGRITY: Honestly? We are passionate professionals. We do what we say, say what we mean, and own our outcomes. Trust is the foundation of every relationship — with teammates, customers, and partners alike.
